INFORMATION & SAFETY DISCLAIMER

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THIS WEBSITE

RTC Rescue provides specialist emergency response training, consultancy, educational material and professional resources. The information made available through this website, including text, images, diagrams, calculations, videos, downloads, training material, articles and other resources, is provided for general information, education and professional development purposes.

The information on this website is not intended to replace formal training, recognised operational procedures, manufacturer instructions, organisational policies, competent supervision, professional judgement or an appropriate risk assessment.

Emergency response, vehicle rescue, firefighting, breathing apparatus operations, lifting, stabilisation, winching, extrication and related activities are inherently hazardous. Techniques or information shown or described on this website must not be attempted by persons who do not possess the appropriate training, competence, equipment, authorisation and supervision.

Users remain responsible for determining whether any information, technique, calculation, equipment configuration or method described on this website is suitable for their particular circumstances.

TRAINING & COMPETENCE

Information presented by RTC Rescue is intended to support learning, professional development and informed discussion. It does not constitute certification of competence or authorisation to undertake any activity.

Practical rescue, firefighting, breathing apparatus, lifting, stabilisation, winching, extrication, casualty management and related activities should only be undertaken by persons who have received appropriate training and who are competent, equipped and authorised to perform them.

Viewing, downloading or using material from this website does not constitute formal training or assessment and must not be regarded as evidence of operational competence.

OPERATIONAL USE

Emergency incidents are dynamic and circumstances can vary significantly. Information, techniques, examples and scenarios presented by RTC Rescue must not be treated as prescriptive operational instructions.

At an operational incident, appropriately trained and authorised personnel must apply their own professional judgement, organisational procedures, operational guidance and suitable risk assessment based upon the actual circumstances encountered.

Nothing published by RTC Rescue overrides the policies, procedures, safe systems of work or command arrangements of a user's employer, fire and rescue service, emergency service or other responsible organisation.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION & CALCULATIONS

RTC Rescue may publish technical information, diagrams, calculations, worked examples, load estimates, mechanical-advantage information, equipment configurations and other technical material.

Such information is provided for educational and professional-development purposes.

Actual loads, forces, equipment capacities and system performance can be affected by numerous variables including equipment configuration, angles, friction, dynamic loading, environmental conditions, equipment condition, anchor selection and manufacturer limitations.

Users must independently verify any calculation or technical information before applying it to a real-world situation.

Where safety depends upon a calculation, equipment rating or engineering determination, appropriate competent or specialist advice should be obtained.

EQUIPMENT & MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTIONS

References to rescue equipment, tools, vehicles, machinery or other products do not replace the instructions, limitations, inspection requirements or safety information provided by the relevant manufacturer.

Manufacturer instructions and applicable organisational procedures must always be consulted before equipment is selected, configured or operated.

Equipment must only be used within its specified limitations and by persons appropriately trained and competent in its use.

References to particular manufacturers, products or equipment do not necessarily constitute endorsement unless expressly stated.

RISK ASSESSMENT & PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENT

No website, training resource, diagram, video or written procedure can account for every hazard that may exist at an emergency incident or practical training event.

Users are responsible for carrying out appropriate risk assessments and for ensuring that suitable control measures, supervision, personal protective equipment, safe systems of work and emergency arrangements are in place.

Professional judgement must be applied to the actual circumstances encountered.

If an activity cannot be undertaken safely, it should not proceed solely because a technique or method has been shown or discussed by RTC Rescue.

ACCURACY & CURRENCY OF INFORMATION

RTC Rescue takes reasonable care when preparing and publishing information and seeks to ensure that material is accurate and relevant at the time of publication.

Emergency response practice, legislation, guidance, equipment, technology and manufacturer recommendations can change.

RTC Rescue therefore does not guarantee that every item of information will remain complete, current or applicable to every situation.

Users should verify important information against current legislation, recognised guidance, manufacturer documentation and their own organisational procedures before relying upon it.

This approach is consistent with the way public bodies such as the HSE distinguish informational website content from guaranteed accuracy or currency. HSE

EXTERNAL LINKS & THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL

RTC Rescue may provide links to external websites or refer to information, publications, organisations, manufacturers, training providers or other third parties.

Such links and references are provided for information and convenience.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, their inclusion does not constitute endorsement, approval or verification by RTC Rescue.

RTC Rescue does not control third-party websites and cannot guarantee the accuracy, availability, safety or continuing suitability of their content. This is also a conventional distinction in UK public-sector website disclaimers. Business Growth Service

DOWNLOADS & EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

Documents, presentations, diagrams, videos, calculators, applications, templates and other resources made available through RTC Rescue are supplied for the purposes stated within the relevant material.

Users are responsible for determining whether a resource is appropriate for their intended use and for checking that they are using the latest applicable version.

Resources must not be treated as a substitute for appropriate instruction, competence, supervision, operational guidance or specialist advice where these are required.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Unless otherwise stated, original material produced by RTC Rescue, including written content, training material, graphics, diagrams, photographs, videos, presentations, downloads and other resources, remains the intellectual property of RTC Rescue or the relevant identified rights holder.

Material must not be reproduced, republished, sold, distributed, modified or represented as the work of another person or organisation without appropriate permission, except where use is otherwise permitted by law or expressly authorised.

Third-party trademarks, logos, images and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RTC Rescue does not accept responsibility for loss or damage arising solely from inappropriate, unauthorised or incompetent use of information or educational material made available through this website, or from reliance upon website content without appropriate verification, training, risk assessment or professional judgement.

Nothing on this website is intended to exclude or restrict any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

In particular, nothing in this disclaimer excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

That last paragraph is important. Both the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and Consumer Rights Act 2015 restrict attempts to exclude liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence. Legislation.gov.uk

NO INSTRUCTION TO UNTRAINED PERSONS

Material displayed on this website must not be interpreted as an instruction or invitation for an untrained person to undertake emergency rescue, firefighting, breathing apparatus operations, vehicle extrication, lifting, stabilisation, winching or other hazardous activities.

Members of the public encountering an emergency should contact the appropriate emergency services and should not place themselves or others at additional risk by attempting specialist techniques solely because they have viewed information on this website.

GOVERNING LAW

This website and this Information & Safety Disclaimer are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Subject to any rights or jurisdiction that cannot lawfully be excluded, matters arising in connection with the use of this website will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
